Arthur Weisberg, born in New York City, began piano studies at age 5 and bassoon studies at age 13 with Simon Kovar. After attending the N.Y. High School of Music and Art and The Juilliard School of Music, he held positions with the Houston, Cleveland and Baltimore Symphony Orchestras. In 1961, Weisberg founded the Contemporary Chamber Ensemble and the Orchestra of the 20th Century to promote the performance and composition of contemporary music. With those groups he has given well over 100 world premieres.
At the time of his death in 2009, he was conductor and bassoon teacher at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida.
