John Mack is widely recognized as one of the foremost players of his instrument. His playing has been hailed for its variety and richness of tone and unfailing beauty of phrasing. Born in Somerville, New Jersey, he studied with Bruno Labate and Harold Gomberg at the Julliard School of Music and with Marcel Tabuteau at the Curtis Institute. He has performed in the Casals Festival in France and the Marlboro Festival in Vermont and has been a featured soloist and lecturer at numerous International Double Reed Society conventions since 1975.
