Brooks de Wetter-Smith has appeared as flute soloist and presented masterclasses throughout the US, Europe and Asia, and has been featured at the festivals at Taglewood, Salzburg, Carmel and Saint-Malo as well as numerous contemporary music festivals. He has recorded for Radio Bremen, Bavarian Radio, Salzburg Radio, Radio/Television Hong Kong and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. De Wetter-Smith received a master's degree from the New England Conservatory and a doctorate from the Eastman School of Music. He has uncovered numerous 19th century works for flute and is also an authority on avant-garde flute techniques.
