Anton Reicha (1770-1836) was one of the most influential and respected composers of the period. A friend of Beethoven and Haydn, he was the counterpoint professor at the Paris Conservatory and his students included Liszt, Berlioz, Adam, Gounod and Franck. One of the first composers to write for woodwind quintet, he wrote and published 24 Quintets, which are all presented in this box set, recorded by the stellar Westwood Wind Quintet.
