Ann Mason Stockton, a native Californian, studied harp with Alfred Kastner. She was a child prodigy who played her first professional engagement at age 8 and was presented in recital in Los Angeles at age 11. At 14, she won the Theodore Presser Scholarship to the National Music Camp in Interlochen, Michigan.

She performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the distinguished Otto Klemerer. Eventually, she was enticed by the lucrative commercial field of radio, phonograph and motion pictures. In 1953 she became harpist with 20th Century Fox studios. She has been active in numerous TV series as well as in the scoring of over 500 motion pictures.
